:: The faculty of the Department of Comparative Literature have distinguished themselves over recent years through both the quality and the quantity of their book publications. As a reading of the Faculty Profiles section indicates, the department's eminent scholars have achieved an estimable record of scholarly publication. But the department's high visibility and the esteem given its faculty are also the result of members' regular participation in national and international scholarly and professional activities. A large number of the department's faculty members have been the recipients of distinguished grants, such as Guggenheim, Rockefeller Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, and American Council of Learned Societies Fellowships. Since the faculty's professional activities represent an especially lively part of the department, graduate students have the opportunity to pursue projects with noted scholars who are strongly committed to research.
